Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to prepare the attendee to provide direct patient care and services in our hospital under the supervision of a registered nurse.  The program consists of didactic learning including classroom presentations, hands-on skills practice, required textbook readings, assigned homework, review and discussion of VHC policies and procedures, competency check-offs, certain departmental tours, and unit preceptorship once the course is completed. The program consists of six eight-hour days spread over a four to six week period of time, as well as a separate 3 hour Epic training course. Attendance of all days is required. It is your responsibility to ensure you are able to attend all classes prior to registration (please check all dates and times closely). Working night shift preceding or following a class is prohibited.

 Prior to enrolling in this course please review the required criteria below:

• Permission is required by the Patient Care Director for the employee to attend the program
• Must meet the performance requirements of the Clinical Technician Ladder
• Must obtain BLS certification through the American Heart Association by the completion of the course. Enrollee will not be able to orient to the clinical technician 2 position or provide direct patient care without an active BLS card. The enrollee is responsible for obtaining this certification.

About the class:

Please arrive early and be in your seat at the start time of the class. You will not be allowed late entry. No "Drop In" students will be allowed, all students must be registered for the class. Children of attendees are not allowed. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be given a certificate of completion that you may upload into Workday.   

The Clinical Technician II Course is a hands-on learning experience. During the course you will come into close contact with others and be exposed to potentially sensitive topics related to human anatomy.

Terms and Conditions for Clinical Tech 2 Class:

Professional casual attire is required (no jeans, no shorts, and no open toed shoes).  Dress in layers as the classrooms tend to run cold.

This class may be cancelled due to lack of enrollment. If this occurs, you will be given a minimum of 48 hours notice.

VHC Employees – Failure to attend or cancel 72 hours prior to the class (or late arrival), will result in a fee of $40.00 dollars via automatic payroll deducation.
