Course Description:

The Charge Nurse Academy class is a 7.3 hour session designed to prepare nurses with or without Charge Nurse experience for the role of a Charge Nurse at VHC Health.  The class focuses on communication, conflict resolution, delegation, generational similarities, different resources that Charge Nurses have throughout the hospital, as well as staffing and budgetary introductions.  We allow 14 students in each class and provide opportunities for break out activities, role play, and discussion.  Manager approval is required for the class and 6.33 contact hours are provided. You will be clocking in and out while attending this class.  It is your responsibility to ensure your unit work schedule reflects your registration. Working the night shift preceding or following this class will prohibit you from attending and you will be turned away at the door.

About the Class:

Please arrive early and be in your seat at the start time of the class. You will not be allowed late entry. No "Drop In" students will be allowed, all students must be registered for the class. Children of attendees are not allowed. Upon successful completion of the class, participants will be given a link and QR Code to complete a survey. A  Contact Hour certificate of completion will be available once you have completed the survey.  You can then upload it into PEEPS.

This class may be cancelled due to lack of enrollment, if this occurs, you will be given a minimum of 48 hours notice.

VHC Employees – Failure to attend or cancel 72 hours prior to the class will result in a "No Show" fee of 60.00 dollars being deducted from your VHC Health paycheck.
